GREEN BAY, WI DECEMBER 13: Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers is tackled by Tyrone Crawford of the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

GREEN BAY, Wis. Less than two weeks after having his role reduced, running back Eddie Lacy put together one of his best performances of the season in the Packers 28 7 win over the Cowboys.

Mike McCarthy, who took over the play calling duties on Sunday, wasted little time giving the ball to his renewed starter. Handing it off to Lacy on the first four plays of the opening drive before the Packers were foced to punt, but the tempo was set.

Lacy went on to carry the ball 11 times in the first half, and was well on his way to a 100 yard day. Then in the second half the third year back turned it up a notch. Perhaps no carry exemplified the return of Lacy more than a 24 yard bulldozing run that ended just short of the goal line. A play later Lacy had his only touchdown of the day, but the score that broke the back of the Cowboys and put Green Bay in front 28 7.

McCarthy often talks about the need for a "one two punch," and it was in full effect on Sunday. Running back James Starks also made an impact on Sunday with a pair of touchdowns, one on the ground and another through the air, to compliment his backfield mate.

The Packers offense wasn always clicking on Sunday, though. Early in

That when the Green Bay defense went to work. Forcing the Cowboys punt on three straight drives after Dallas lone touchdown of the game. Also holding Dallas star wide receiver, Dez Bryant, to just one catch on the afternoon with defensive back Sam Shields

Perhaps the biggest defensive play came in the first half, and from Shields before he left the game. Dallas was able to drive deep in to Packers territory on their opening drive, but a heads up play Shields resulted in an interception to keep the Cowboys off the board.

At the end of the day the Packers defense held Dallas to just 270 yards of total offense, 11 first downs, and one third down conversion. Linebacker Clay Matthews also got his first sack in seven games in the second half as the Packers defense helped seal a 28 7 win to
